THE 6/7 year old Grand Final of the Irish Sport Horse Studbook Showjumping Series 2010, took place today (Saturday) at Tattersalls Ward Union Hunt International Show in Ratoath, Co. Meath.
From the 29 horse and rider combinations qualified to compete there were 23 starters, with €5,000 on offer for the Grand Final in addition to €1,750 in League prizes. Seven 6 year olds and five 7 year olds jumped clear in the first round, meaning there were 12 combinations through to the jump off.
Third into the arena were Dermott Lennon and Mr Magic Marley (ISH), who jumped clear and quick to take the lead. Second to last into the ring was Peter Smyth and Victoria Rose (ISH) who jumped clear in 32.05 seconds to win the class, when last to go Clem McMahon and Wilywonty (ISH) had one fence down. Today’s victory meant that Peter Smyth and Victoria Rose (ISH) gained enough points to win the 6/7 year old League with Clem McMahon and Wilywonty (ISH) taking second.
The 5 year old Grand Final takes place tomorrow at Tattersalls. Full results from today’s Grand Final and the 6/7 year old League are detailed below.
