HORSE VET COURSE
Tuesday 7th & Wednesday 8th December
Maynooth Equestrian Centre, Clonfert Maynooth, Co. Kildare
 

 

SESSION 1

A :- How to deal with common injuries
B :- Wounds and wound management - What's serious, what's not and
how to tell the difference!
C :- Bandaging, tourniquets, splinting and poulticing.
 

 

SESSION 2

A :- Vetting your horse and common problems
Decision time will be a lot less challenging in future
B :- Conformation - what to forgive and what to avoid!
C :- Some common conditions seen at the 'vettings'
eg. Lameness, Sarcoids, Wobblers, Stringhalt, Wind problems - roaring, whistling
 

SESSION 3

A :- Case histories
A fun and lively topic where we present case histories
This visual topic serves to engage you through video scenarios
You will be encouraged for your input on each case.
A fun and valuable way to learn
B :- Aging horses
 

SESSION 4

A :- Recognising the sick horse
How to take temperature, look at and interpret colour of gums,
take heart rate, pulse ,respiratory rate etc.
Determine if your horse is dehydrated
B :- Injections and handling syringes and needles
C :- What to do when waiting for a vet in an emergency
