CURRAN TAKES BALLINDENISK THREE STAR TROPHY

(01 May 2011)

ARMY rider Capt. Geoff Curran was triumphant in today's (Sunday) three-star international event at Ballindenisk, Co. Cork, carrying off the winner's trophy with the Irish-bred Cavalier Royale gelding 'The Jump Jet', owned by the Minister for Defence and Maurice Cassidy.

The top three places were taken by Irish-bred horses, with Bandon-based Michael Ryan claiming both second and third today, riding 'Annestown Emperor' and 'Ballylynch Skyport', respectively.

English raider Fraser Duffy picked up the winner's prize in the two-star event with the Irish-bred 'Fernhill Encore', but Ryan again took second place, this time with Michael McGrath's Puissance gelding 'Dromgurrihy Blue'. Ireland's top-placed Badminton rider, Joseph Murphy, claimed third place on 'Chuckelberry'.

The one-star event was in two sections, with Tori Dixon and 'Shadow Light' placing first in Section A, and Katie Moffatt with 'Pick and Mix II' winning Section B.

The pony event was won by Joshua Pim and 'Mr Otto'.
