HORSE SPORT IRELAND CONFIRMS YOUNG RIDER CHAMPIONSHIP SQUAD

HORSE Sport Ireland has confirmed the combinations to represent Ireland in the Young Rider (Under 21) Eventing Championships which will take place at Blair Castle from August 18th to 21st.

The Squad in Alphabetical order is:

Alex Donohoe; Ardfry Baringa
David Hannigan; Red Baron
Peter Hannigan; First mate
Alex Houston; Missy Elliot
Shane Power; TLB Interactive
Melanie Young; Riverstown Express

1st reserve:

James Clegg; Kincluny

2nd reserve:
Lauren Persse; Darragh Promise.

Four of the six travelling combinations will be selected to make up the Irish team with the best three finishing scores counting. The other two combinations will compete as individuals.

Team Ireland Equestrian Young Rider High Performance Coach Sally Corscadden said that the championships would be a big test but that she was happy with the rider’s preparations.

“The riders have made a huge effort over recent months and I am optimistic that we can be very competitive at the championships,” she said.

The team will be accompanied by Sally Corscadden as Team Manager, Heike Holstein as dressage coach, Ian Fearon as Show Jumping Coach and Will Lawlor as Team veterinarian.
