HORSE Sport Ireland has announced the horses and riders that make the initial the Team Ireland Equestrian Junior Eventing squad for the Junior European Eventing Championships in Bad Segeberg, Germany, from the 19th to the 22nd of August

The squad will be further refined after the Tattersalls International at the end of May.

Horse Sport Ireland’s Junior Eventing High Performance Coach Comdt. Brian Mac Sweeney said that the squad had been selected following the recent open assessment day.

“We have a number of possible combinations some of whom have experience from last year and from pony teams and there are also some new combinations that emerged from the assessment day,” he said.

Horse Sport Ireland has also confirmed that Ian Fearon will act as show jumping coach for the Junior rider squad with Sally Corscadden as dressage Coach and Ken Mahon acting as assistant Chef d’ Equipe.

“Ian Fearon did a very good job with the pony eventing squad last year and I am delighted he has come on board to provide specialist show jumping guidance to our squad members,” said Mac Sweeney.
