O'CONNOR BEST OF IRISH AT BURGIE

CORK'S Austin O'Connor was best of the Irish at the two-star event in Burgie, Scotland, which finished this afternoon (Sunday), taking a third place with 'Lily Of The West'.

But close behind was Mullingar's Joseph Murphy, taking fourth on 'DHI Top Story', while Louise Bloomer slotted the Puissance gelding 'Goodwins Glory' into sixth overall.

Victory in the two-star went to Britain's Wills Oakden and the Irish-bred gelding 'Button Clover'.

In the one-star event, 16 year-old Irish rider Tori Dixon rode the Broussard grey mare 'Shadow Light' consistently through all three phases to claim a third place today, shading Austin O'Connor and 'Zahiro Uit 'T Veld' into fourth by half a penalty point.

Paul Caves and the Touchdown gelding 'Master Gold Touch' took ninth place.

The one-star event was won by Britain's Tanya Kyle and 'Atlantic Domino'.


LUHMUHLEN
Meanwhile, in the four-star event at Luhmuhlen in Germany, Co. Down's Jim Newsam, making his four-star debut, took 21st place with the Irish-bred Limmerick mare 'Lara's Song'. Katie O'Sullivan was 23rd on the Cavalier Royale gelding 'Shannondale Que'.

Germany's Andreas Dibowski claimed the trophy with 'Euroridings Butts Leon', while overnight leader, Britain's Piggy French, finished in fourth with the Irish-bred Cult Hero gelding 'Flying Machine' after incurring eight faults in the final show jumping phase.
