IRISH BRED HORSES DOMINATE FOUR-STAR LUHMUHLEN

(19 Jun 2010)

THREE Irish-bred horses finished in the top five at the prestigious four-star show in Luhmuhlen, Germany this afternoon, with the Irish Sport Horse gelding 'Tankers Town' claiming the overall trophy.

Two Irish riders finished in the top 20, also riding Irish-bred horses, with Cork's Patricia Ryan in 14th on 'Fernhill Clover Mist' and husband Michael Ryan in 17th with 'Ballylynch Adventure'.

Britain's Sharon Hunt, who won her first ever four-star event today on the 16 year-old 'Tankers Town' said afterwards: “I’m shocked, but I always knew he was a phenomenal horse. The course really suited him because he is so good at jumping fast.”

New Zealand's Andrew Nicholson took fourth place at Luhmuhlen with the 'Cruising' gelding 'Mr. Cruise Control', while British rider Oliver Townend was in fifth with 'Ashdale Cruise Master', another son of the famous Irish stallion.

Luhmuhlen is one of only five four-star events held annually worldwide.
