Final leg of ISH Studbook Showjumping Series culminates at The Meadows

The final leg of the 2016 Irish Sport Horse Studbook Showjumping Series took place at The Meadows this weekend with over €13,500 on offer from Horse Sport Ireland, including league and breeders prizes. In the 5 Year Old Final, 17 horses made it through to the jump-off. Winning the class was John Mulligan and Mohill Spring (ISH), who jumped double clear in a time on 29.58 seconds. Gabriel Slattery’s stallion Castlelawn Captain Junior (ISH) and Shane Dalton finished fifth in the class, to take the 5 Year Old League.

In the 6 Year Old Final, 16 combinations progressed to the jump-off. Shane Dalton enjoyed further success when he landed the win with Kashino (ISH), jumping double clear in a time of 30.09 seconds. The 6 Year Old League winners were Ger O’Neill and Killossery Kaiden (ISH).

The 7 Year Old Final saw 12 horses making it through to the jump-off. Darragh Ryan and Glimmering (ISH) were the victors in this final, coming home double clear in a time of 35.82 seconds. The 7 Year Old League winners were Rory Costigan’s Loughnavatta Indigo (ISH) ridden by Gemma Phelan.

Speaking about the Series final, Horse Sport Ireland’s Director of Breeding & Programmes, Alison Corbally, said; “It is wonderful to see so many of the horses that have been selected for the World Breeding Championships, in Lanaken, competing here today and putting in such strong performances. The standard of jumping in the finals has been very very good, as you can see from so many combinations getting through to the jump-off despite having to face very strong tracks. The Series this year has been a great success and we have some very exciting young Irish Sport Horses on the circuit.”
