THE David Foster Injured Riders Fund Ball this year returns to David’s home town of Enfield in Co. Meath.
As always, profits raised from this now annual event will go to the Injured Riders Fund, set up to commemorate Capt. David Foster, who tragically died while taking part in an event near his home in 1998.
The ball, which will be held at the Marriot Johnstown House Hotel on Saturday, February 12, is the key fundraising event for the fund, and everyone in the equestrian community is encouraged to attend or make a donation.
Horse Sport Ireland Chairman Joe Walsh said today : "David Foster was an iconic figure in the sport of Three Day Eventing, and the success of this fund for injured riders is a testament to his lasting legacy," he said.
"This ball is run by a voluntary committee in honour of David Foster and to raise funds for injured riders. I would encourage everyone to go along to what will be a great social occasion," he said.
The evening will begin at 7.30pm with a complimentary champagne reception, followed by a three-course dinner. Diners will also be treated to four bottles of wine per table of ten.
Disco, a late night bar, and the usual party atmosphere guarantee a great night’s entertainment.
The Media awards will also be presented on the night and include the following categories; Best International Performance in a Senior Competition; Best Underage performance in a FEI Championship; Lifetime achievement Award, and finally Best National Event. Members can vote for their favourite national event on the Eventing Ireland website www.eventingireland.com. The award with the most votes wins.
Those wishing to stay overnight can avail of a special reduced room rate (€90.00 for a double). There are also holiday homes on site that can house up to six people and work out at great value at €150 per house or €25 per head. Availability is limited, so those attending are advised to book early.
