RIO MILLION AT STAKE IN FINAL ROUND OF GLOBAL CHAMPIONS' TOUR

TIPPERARY'S Denis Lynch and Cork's Billy Twomey will be amongst the world's top 30 show jumpers who compete in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this weekend in the final leg of the 2010 Global Champions' Tour.

With a one million euro winner's bonus to be shared amongst the top 18 riders and 620,000 euro in competition prize money available, all riders and horses will be at the top of their game for this landmark contest. Lynch is currently ranked 25th in the Global Champions' Tour leaderboard and Billy Twomey 28th. Germany's Marco Kutscher currently holds the top spot in the rankings.

In the US, meanwhile, Darragh Kenny and Darragh Kerins will represent Ireland in the four-star competition at Bridgehampton, New York, while in eventing a large contingent of Irish riders will do battle over the one, two and three star courses at Blair Castle in Britain.

Ireland holds its own international three-day event this weekend at Camphire on the banks of the Blackwater River in Co. Waterford, with riders competing in both one and two-star competitions.
