SHOW jumping moves up to five-star level this weekend, with Irish riders competing in the World Cup show at 's-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands, and also at Wellington in Florida, where half a million dollars is on offer in Saturday's Grand Prix.
Jessica Kurten and Denis Lynch are the Irish entries at the Dutch show, and both will hope to make an impact in Sunday's World Cup Qualifier, where Lynch in particular will be looking for badly-needed points to improve his ranking. Kurten is currently in third place in the World Cup rankings and may make a bid to secure the leaderboard top spot on Sunday afternoon, having already qualified for April's Geneva Final with her win in Gothenburg last month.
Darragh Kenny and Shane Sweetnam line out for Ireland at Wellington's rich Grand Prix in America's sunshine state, both with good US performance records this year and both in with a good chance of securing a share of the large prize pot.
The Irish flag will also be flying this weekend at Vilamoura's two-star show jumping in Portugal, France's Vidabaun and Moorsele in Belgium.
Eventing, meanwhile, sees one Irish entry at Great Witchingham and one at Somerley Park, both in England.
