Children on Horses/Juniors/Young Riders
Kill International Equestrian Centre, Saturday 26th February 2011

This day is open to all riders between the ages of 12yrs – 21yrs, parents and guardians with aspirations toward one day representing Ireland at International level or participation at the European Championships 2011.

Presentations will be given by Tom Holden, Comdt. John Ledingham, Heather Coyle and Liam Murphy.
Tom Holden will build a course to the current European heights and technicalities for all three groups which can be inspected by the riders and he will give his insight on the course and where it is most likely to cause problems.
Comdt. John Ledingham, Liam Murphy & Heather Coyle will then give presentations outlining the pathway to the European Championships, including areas such as national and International rules, key dates, target shows and qualification deadlines and the logistics of International travel.

For anyone wishing to compete on Irish teams in Children on Horses / Junior / Young Riders in 2011 this information day will be of uppermost importance. It is however, open to all, so that everyone sees their objectives for the years ahead. Aim

To bring home European Medals in all three categories.

Eligibility

All riders who are eligible to ride for Ireland, who qualify by age in their category, and have access to / own / lease / or borrow a horse who can comfortably jump and compete at the required heights listed below.

Criteria

Children on Horses; Riders; 12yrs – 14yrs [1^st Jan] Horses to jump up to 1.30m [no water jump, just water trays].

Juniors; Riders; 14yrs – 18yrs [1^st Jan] Horses to jump up to 1.45m.Technical, water jumps, trays included.

Young Riders; Riders; 18yrs – 21yrs [1^st Jan] Horses to jump up to 1.55m.Technical, water jumps, trays included.

FEI Certificate of Competence;

Juniors & Young Riders have to hold or achieve a current Validated FEI Certificate of Competence before the closing date of entries for the 2011 European Championships in Comporta Portugal.

Team Training before the European Championshils in HARAS DE JARDY 13-18 JULY Coilog 28th & 29th and Wednesday July 7th in the Army Equitation School

Comdt John Ledingham will be using these training days to fine tune your team horses only, and will have championship style courses purpose built so lines can be practised and rehearsed.

For any of you who would like to stable on Monday night, Please contact Coilog yourselves, to book a stable, the cost will unfortunatly be at your own expense.

Training is booked for Monday 28th in the afternoon - evening and Tuesday 29th morning. Heather Coyle  will be on site on Tuesday morning to help with any queries.

Training on Wednesday  the 7th July will be held by kind permission of the Army Equitation School.

Children on Horses European Championships Accomodation

Horse Sport Ireland have prebooked rooms for athletes participating at the Championships. The Team Hotel is Novotel Chateau de Versailles . We have been notified there is now a waiting list for accomodation in the team hotel  but an altenative list has been distributed by Heather .

Comdt. John Ledingham is delighted at the enthusiasm shown in this year’s squads, and has great pleasure in announcing the long list squads for 2010 in alphabetical order. This is not a closed list, and may be added to or reduced as the year progresses

There will be a 10% discount on entries & stabling if payment is received at least two weeks prior to the first day of the show (Wed 14th April). Entries close Wed 21st April. Early booking is advised if you wish to be allocated stables close to the arena.  Children on Horses Show Jumping High Performance Training Dates 2010

• 18th February : Mullingar Equestrian Centre.  Times: 10am-6pm
• 24th March: Portmore Equestrian Centre, Aghalee, Craigavon. N. Ireland.  Times: 5-9pm                                              
• 31st March: Coilog Equestrian Centre, Kilmeague, Co. Kildare. Times: 10am-6pm

Please note the Portmore training has been added to facilitate the Ulster Region Riders who have their spring training bursary on the 31st March.  However this training day is not limited to Ulster Region riders only and is open to all. 

HSI Team Manager Comdt Ledingham would like all participants in the High Performance Programme to make themselves available on these dates for training. Riders interested in attending must register with Susann Killilea on Email: skillilea@horsesportireland.ie  or Tel: 045-854507with their details before Friday 19th March.

If you are not already on the High Performance programme and are interested in becoming part of it, please fill in the attached Questionnaire  with your details and post back to High Performance Coordinator Heather Coyle asap. 

All Children intending to compete in the 1.20m in Maryville on Sunday 21st March please call Susann in the H.S.I office by 3pm Friday the 19th March  Email: skillilea@horsesportireland.ie  or Tel: 045-854507 with  so that Comdt John Ledingham can arrange to help you in the warm up and watch you jumping.

 The J & Y.R. will all be identified by SJI on the start list.

The High Performance Committee strongly encourage Children on Horses to compete in the 1.20m competition preceding the Chippison 1.30m league.   Comdt. John Ledingham will be attending the following shows to coach/view 

• 21st March - HSI Chippison Spring Tour, Maryville
• 28th March - HSI Chippison Spring Tour, Cavan
• 4th April - HSI Chippison Spring Tour, Barnadown
• 11th April - HSI Chippison Spring Tour, Clare Equestrian Centre
• Results will be noted from all the Chippison Leagues.  

                  The long list squad for the Chidren on Horses team will be named on the 12th April.
