EVENTING - IRISH NARROWLY MISS OUT ON MEDALS AT EURO JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

THE Irish team of Tori Dixon, Katie Moffatt, Lucca Stubington, and Angela Dennehy narrowly missed out on European Junior Eventing medals when finishing fourth at the championships in Vale Sabroso, Portugal today (Sunday).

Britain took the Gold Medal on 145 penalties, Germany the Silver with 153.4 and France the Bronze Medal on 158.7. The Irish penalty score was 198.6 after the final show jumping phase.

In the individual rankings, meanwhile, Anne Molony with Sheepcote Welcome finished in 17th overall, with

Orlagh Keenan and the Irish-bred Moss Star in 19th.

With eight teams competing for the European title, Tori Dixon with the Irish-bred 'Shadow Light' held bronze medal place individually after dressage to help put Ireland in Silver medal position, but Dixon's subsequent 27 faults on the cross-country course combined with Lucca Stubbington's 26 with the Irish-bred 'Kilminchy Condor' left the team in fourth going in to the final phase today.

With none of the team achieving a zero score in show jumping, Ireland was unable to break through to medal ranking.
