HSI and FEI OFFICIALS

  REVISED APPOINTMENT SYSTEM FOR OFFICIALS

The HSI Rules Committee recently undertook a review of FEI Officials: their appointment, promotion and retirement.

The Board of Horse Sport Ireland have recently adopted the following process :

HORSE SPORT IRELAND CRITERIA FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF ALL FEI OFFICIALS

The following criteria are proposed for all disciplines:
1. He must fulfill the relevant FEI criteria for the desired official status.
2. He must be judged to have adequate and appropriate experience at national level
3. He must be judged to be knowledgeable about his chosen discipline in general
4. He must have a good knowledge of all relevant FEI Rules and Regulations.
5. He must be familiar with the organisation of an international event and have a good knowledge of veterinary matters and the FEI legal system.
6. He must be an English speaker
7. Equestrian experience is a requirement.
8. His personality is of great importance. Motivation, people skills, communication skills and authority are all required to greater or lesser degree.
9. He must complete an HSI FEI Officials Nomination Form and submit this to Horse Sport Ireland by 30th June.
10. He must accept to be bound by the relevant Rules and
Regulations and the Code of Conduct of Horse Sport Ireland and
Federation Equestre Internationale

THE PROCESS

• HSI will forward all Nomination Forms to the relevant affiliate for their consideration.
• If the Affiliate rejects the nomination the reasons for their decision must be based on the criteria above and must be communicated to HSI.
• Horse Sport Ireland will take the final decision on all nominations.

 

REVIEW OF HORSE SPORT IRELAND FEI OFFICIALS

1. A retirement age of seventy five years (or earlier subject to FEI Regulations) will be applied by Horse Sport Ireland.
2. HSI will conduct a review of all Officials every two years. All Officials will be asked to complete a review form indicating their officiating activities, the last course attended as well as confirming personal details.
3. Officials who do not show adequate activity without good reason may be removed from the list.
4. Officials may be asked to attend for retraining.
5. HSI will accept applications for new Officials each year, with a deadline of 30th June.
6. HSI will review the requirements for the various FEI Officials for each discipline based on the number of FEI events in Ireland
7. HSI will nominate the appropriate number of Officials to the FEI on this basis.
