HSI Sport Horse and Pony Foal Qualifier Results from Newcastle West Show

The Sport Horse and Pony Foal Championship aims to identify, evaluate and reward breeders who have bred a foal that has the potential to be competitive at the highest level in the disciplines of Show Jumping or eventing.

The region 3 HSI sport horse and pony foal qualifier took place on Sunday 15th July at Newcastlewest Show.

Judges Pat Fenlon and Janet Murray with Kieran O’Gorman’s eventing filly winner by Munther (TB) out of Brookfield Miss Lux (ISH) by Lux Z (HANN).

The results are as follows;

Horse Show Jumping Foals

The filly section was won by Andries de Bont with a filly by Arezzo VDL (KWPN) out of Wulfin (KWPN) by Voltaire (HANN) and the show jumping colt section was won by John Carey with a colt by Dakar VDL (KWPN) out of Douglas Royale (ISH) by Ard VDL Douglas (KWPN).

Horse Eventing Foals

The eventing filly section was won by Kieran O’Gorman with a filly by Munther (TB) out of Brookfield Miss Lux (ISH) by Lux Z (HANN). The reserve eventing filly went to Jane and John Joe Grace with a filly by Lassban Clover Roller (ISH) out of Ballaghmore Storm (ISH) by Farlow (HESS).

The colt section was won by Billy Daly with a colt by Newmarket Venture (ISH) out of Newmarket Dato Two (ISH) by Aldato (KWPN). The reserve was awarded to Ann O’Grady’s colt foal by Sibon W (KWPN) out of Ballingowan Chara (ISH) by Cruising (ISH).

A traditional prize is available at each qualifier this year and the winner of this prize was John Walsh’s eventing filly entry by Deloughtane Pio (ISH) out of Carrabegs Coevers Diamond (ISH) by Coevers Diamond Boy (ISH).

Pony Show Jumping Foals (NEW – 2018)

The filly section was won by Jerry Moloney with a filly by Vechzicht Classic Popstar out of Fortrose Lucy by Dillymore Priceless and the reserve went to Sharon Walsh’s filly by Silver Shadow (CP) out of Benbulben Star (CP) by Earl of Newbridge (CP).

The colt section was won by Martin O’Sullivan with a colt by Curraghmore Castle out of Active Beauty (CP) by Robe Earl (CP). The reserve was awarded to Loretta Hanley’s colt foal by Cornfield Prince (CP) out of Belville Lass (ISH).

Pony Eventing Foals (NEW – 2018)

The eventing filly section was won by Catherine Boylan with a filly by Chinook Limelight (WPC) out of Megland Mooncharm (CHAPS) by Acado. The reserve eventing filly went to Sharon Walsh’s filly by Azam out of Golden Grove Jasmine by Holy Oak Czar.

The next regional qualifier will be taking place at Creagh Equestrian Centre (Region 4) on Monday 13^th August.
