Horse Sport Ireland, Eventing Ireland and Camphire International Horse Trials are delighted to announce that Camphire will run its International Horse Trials on its scheduled dates this year from July 25th to 29th at Cappoquin in Co Waterford.

A spokesperson for HSI said:

“‘We are pleased that the recent uncertainty about whether or not Camphire will run their event this year has finally been resolved and that the event organisers have decided to run their event as scheduled. Camphire International has established itself as a key fixture on the Irish International Eventing calendar and we are very happy that competitors, spectators, breeders and producers can look forward to what promises to be another exciting competition this summer.

“We believe that Camphire and all Irish International Events will benefit from the new €10,000 Horse Sport Ireland Eventing Challenge, which is a link of Irish International Events, sponsored by Horse Sport Ireland. The situation regarding HSI funding of international competitions remains, in-line with what was agreed at a meeting with representatives from all international competition hosting venues in early 2017. At that meeting it was agreed that the 4% prize money levies collected by Horse Sport Ireland would be waived and in turn, international hosting grants would not be issued in 2018.

“As in previous years, the Irish Horse Gateway sponsorship at Camphire will be an important promotional platform for the brand and indeed the breeders and producers of Ireland who advertise their horses through the online platform – Irish Horse Gateway.”

David O’Meara, Eventing Ireland Chairman said:

“The Board of Eventing Ireland is committed to its continued support of Camphire International. It is a very popular event which sees top class athletes competing from both Ireland and overseas and we are determined this unique fixture remains on the International calendar. Ireland is in a privileged position to have five venues running top class international events throughout the season.”

Paul Brady, organiser of Camphire International Horse Trials said:

“Camphire is a unique event which has developed to a point where commitment from the governing bodies of the sport is essential to support the huge number of volunteers and patrons that make it happen. We look forward to continued success with the help of all stakeholders. To maintain the viability of such shows and events we hope that proper funding will be available from the governing bodies in future years.”
