Last chance for Olympic hopefuls to shine as Ireland drawn fourth in Swiss Nations Cup

The Irish team for the Swiss Nations Cup in St Gallen – Bertram Allen, Greg Broderick, Denis Lynch and Cian O’Connor.

The Irish Show Jumping team have been drawn fourth to go in tomorrow’s (Friday) crucial five-star Nations Cup at St Gallen in Switzerland.

Horse Sport Ireland’s Show Jumping Team Manager Robert Splaine has confirmed his starting order, with Tipperary’s Denis Lynch first to go for Ireland with All Star 5, who he owns along with Thomas Straumann.

Thurles-born Greg Broderick will go second with the Caledonia Stables-owned Irish Sport Horse, MHS Going Global.

Wexford’s Bertram Allen will be the third Irish rider into the ring with Ballywalter Farms’ mare Molly Malone V, while Meath-based Cian O’Connor will ride the anchor leg aboard Good Luck, who is owned by Adena Springs & Ronnoco Jump Ltd.

Ireland has secured one Show Jumping place for the Rio Games, with Robert Splaine set to make his Olympic selection next week.

St Gallen is the fourth leg of the Europe Division 1 league and of the eight teams taking part, Belgium, Czech Republic, Sweden, Switzerland and Ireland, are eligible for Furusiyya Nations Cup points.

Friday’s competition in St Gallen will begin at 1.30pm Irish time and will be broadcast live on FEI TV.
