23/07/11 THE GRAND Finals of the Irish Sport Horse Studbook Showjumping Series 2011 took place today (Saturday) at the Tattersalls Ward Union Hunt Show in Ratoath, Co. Meath. There was in excess of €15,000 on offer for the culmination of this prestigious Series, with €5,000 on offer for each of Grand Final classes as well as League and breeders’ prizes.
The 6/7 Year Old Grand Final saw 33 qualified combinations starting, with 13 horses jumping clear in the first round to make it through to the jump-off. Last into the ring, and holding top position in the League were Trevor Breen and the seven year old Cruising stallion, Oldtown KC (ISH). A double clear in the very fast time of 39.46 seconds, meant the duo took not only the 6/7 Year Old Grand Final but also the League title. Oldtown KC (ISH) is a fully approved stallion bred by Martin Coffey from Templemore, Co. Tipperary.
The 5 Year Old Grand Final saw 11 horses making it through to the jump-off from a starting field of 30 combinations. Fourth to go were Shane McFadden and the Clinton stallion, Clinton Jack (ISH), who set off at a blistering pace from the outset. Their time of 38.45 seconds, with all the fences standing, was to prove unbeatable. Taking home the 5 Year Old League title was Linda Courtney with LCC Silver Fox (ISH), a horse Linda bred herself.

The Grand Final classes today were of a very high standard and it is particularly good to see a HSI Approved stallion winning both the 6/7 Year Old Grand Final, as well at the 2011 6/7 Year Old League."
