NEW HSI BREEDING SUB-BOARD HAS FIRST MEETING

(10 Feb 2012)

HORSE Sport Ireland's new Breeding Sub-Board had its first
meeting this week. Jim Beecher was re-elected as Chairman, with Paddy
Joe Foy elected as the new Vice Chairman.

Neil Henry and Helen Kelly were appointed to join Jim Beecher, Paul
Duffy and John Jude Doyle as breeder representatives on the Main Board
of Horse Sport Ireland.

The Board, which is responsible for breeding policy in Horse Sport
Ireland, contains three new members who were elected recently through
the Irish Horse Board. These are Anne Bannon (Wicklow), Sean Kavanagh
(Leitrim) and Kieron O' Gorman (Cork).

The Board also contains nine other members from the Irish Horse Board,
as well as representatives from the Connemara Pony Breeders Society, the
Irish Pony Society and the Northern Ireland Horse Board.

Speaking after the meeting Jim Beecher said that the Breeding Sub-Board
were always open to new ideas.

"Keeping firmly in mind the interests of our breeders, we must work hard
to meet their expectations in a truly global industry and sport. We must
always be open to new ideas and these can be brought forward through the
elected members of the Sub-Board or breeders can bring their views
directly to Horse Sport Ireland for consideration by the Sub-Board.
Either way, they will be most welcome," he said.
