HORSE Sport Ireland has extended the deadline for the registration initiative for older horses.

Under this initiative horses owners could register their yearling, two year old, three year old or older horse with recorded pedigree for a fee of €85 for IHB members. The fee includes the cost of DNA testing to verify parentage. There has been a huge interest in the initiative and Horse Sport Ireland has now extended the deadline to September 30th.

Alison Corbally, Director of Breeding and Programmes, said today (Friday): "We want to encourage breeders to register their horse with recorded pedigree. We have been inundated with applications and we are receiving hundreds of phone queries. This is a chance for people to comply with the new legislative requirements at a lower than normal cost."
