TEENAGER ALLEN FINISHES FIFTH IN NETHERLANDS FIVE STAR GRAND PRIX

WEXFORD teenager Bertram Allen today (Sunday) finished fifth in the five-star Grand Prix at 's-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands after a gruelling contest that saw some of the world's top riders fail to qualify for the jump-off.

THE sixth round of the Horse Sport Ireland/ Connolly's RED MILLS Spring Tour at Portmore Equestrian Centre in Co Armagh saw the top prize staying north of the border, as Co Fermanagh rider James Hogg scored a comprehensive victory with Edgar Hogg’s grey gelding Interpreter.

LYNCH FOURTH IN RICH QATAR GRAND PRIX

AFTER a nail-biting three rounds of competition, Tipperary's Denis Lynch finished fourth and 52,000 euro richer in Qatar's Grand Prix at Al Shaqab tonight (Saturday). Jumping under lights, 27 combinations did battle for a share of the monster 650,000 euro prize purse, with 18 going through to the second round.

TODAY (Wednesday) saw yet another opening day win for Ireland's Shane Sweetnam with the Irish Sport Horse Solerina in the $34,000 1m45 speed class at Florida's Winter Festival (WEF).
