Irish Sport Horses enjoyed success on the international showjumping circuit over the weekend. In Bridgehampton (USA), Ireland's Richie Moloney finished in fifth place in the FEI World Cup Grand Prix Qualifier with Slieveanorra (ISH), while fellow Irishman, Darragh Kenny, finished in eight place in the same class with Gael Force (ISH). At the same show, Andrew Bourns (IRL) and Roundthorn Madios (ISH) finished in second place in the €21,200 1m50 class.

THE Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney TD, today (Monday) launched Horse Sport Ireland’s new online database, called CapallOir.

HORSE Sport Ireland has extended the deadline for the registration initiative for older horses. Under this initiative horses owners could register their yearling, two year old, three year old or older horse with recorded pedigree for a fee of €85 for IHB members.

In Canada, Rich Fellers (USA) and the Cruising-mare, Colgan Cruise (ISH), finished in 6th place in the FEI World Cup Grand Prix.

Irish Sport Horses enjoyed great success at the Discover Ireland Dublin Horse Show 2011. On Sunday, Alexander Butler (IRL) and Will Wimble (ISH) finished in sixth place in the €200,000 Longines Grand Prix, after earlier in the week winning the Accumulator class.

HORSE Sport Ireland Chairman Joe Walsh has expressed concern about the decline in the use of Thoroughbred stallions in the Irish Sport Horse sector. Foal registration figures released by Horse Sport Ireland today (Thursday) showed that in 2010 only 12 per cent of Irish Sport Horse foals were the progeny of Thoroughbred stallions.

Laura Renwick (GBR) and Roller Coaster (ISH) took top spot in Friday's International Stake class and on the Sunday of the show were awarded with the Horse Sport Ireland prize for 'Leading International Irish Sport Horse at Hickstead'.

The second and third legs of the Horse Sport Ireland National Showing Championships Series in Association with the Irish Shows Association took place in Kildysart and Ennis at the weekend. Full results from both shows are detailed below.

THE GRAND Finals of the Irish Sport Horse Studbook Showjumping Series 2011 took place today (Saturday) at the Tattersalls Ward Union Hunt Show in Ratoath, Co. Meath. There was in excess of €15,000 on offer for the culmination of this prestigious Series, with €5,000 on offer for each of Grand Final classes as well as League and breeders’ prizes.
