A NUMBER of new venues are to host national championships on behalf of the Association of Irish Riding Clubs this year. Lisgarvan House near Ballon, Co. Carlow will host the National Horse Trials Championships on Sunday 2nd September.

A NEW events calendar has been launched by the Association of Irish Riding Clubs which conveniently brings together information about upcoming shows around the country. The overhaul sees many new features being introduced including directions to venues, event schedules, entry forms and competitor times.

The HSI Bluegrass Horse Feed Spring Tour 2012 was launched on Tuesday 7th February. The Spring Tour which will run at 16 venues from February to April, sees new sponsors Bluegrass Horse Feeds coming on board for the 2012 season. THE National Equestrian Intervarsity Championships first started in the 1970s and has grown in participation year on year with our largest entry last year where WIT hosted over 250 competitors from more than 20 3rd level institutions in Ireland.

NATIONAL anti-doping rules for all equestrian disciplines have been introduced in Ireland for the first time. The new rules were passed unanimously at a board meeting of Horse Sport Ireland today (Friday). The rules will come into effect in equestrian disciplines in Ireland from April 1st next.

HORSE Sport Ireland has announced that the Irish Quarter Horse Association (IQHA) has affiliated to the Reining and Western Section of Horse Sport Ireland. HSI and the IQHA will work closely together to promote the sport of western riding in Ireland.
