HORSE Sport Ireland is saddened to learn that the Irish equestrian legend Iris Kellett passed away at a nursing home in Naas last night (Friday).

FINGAL County Council and the Irish Horse Welfare Trust (IHWT) recently rounded up all the horses in Dunsink. These were subsequently microchipped and provided with passports while those with no owners were taken into care by the IHWT

IT WAS the turn of Waterford IT to host the 2011 National Intervarsity Equestrian Championships last weekend. Students from all over the country plus students from France, Great Britain, Belgium, Luxembourg and Canada took part.

HORSE SPORT IRELAND SILVER SPURS 2011 FORMALLY LAUNCHED
HORSE Sport Ireland and Dressage Ireland have announced details of the HSI Silver Spurs 2011. The scheme, which is funded by Horse Sport Ireland and organised by Dressage Ireland, aims to identify and develop talented young riders and encourage their progress by awarding training bursaries, giving direction and advice and providing a pathway to help them achieve an international standard in their chosen equestrian discipline.

The scheme is open to riders in all equestrian affiliates. As in previous years, Horse Sport Ireland will sponsor the Silver Spurs 2011.

TOM SLATTERY APPOINTED AS HIGH PERFORMANCE PONY COACH

HORSE Sport Ireland and Showjumping Ireland have announced that Tom Slattery will be the High Performance Coach and Chef d’Equipe for the pony show jumping team for 2011. Tom will also act as show jumping coach to the pony eventing team.
