This year’s Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials will take place from 3rd to 7th May. The 4 Star competition starts in earnest with two days of dressage on Friday and Saturday, cross-country on Sunday and the climax in the main arena on Bank Holiday Monday.Of the 92 horses on the accepted entries list, 26 are Irish Sport Horses, with a further 15 Irish Sport Horses on the waiting list.
Horse Sport Ireland has announced details of the 2012 Irish Sport Horse Studbook Showjumping Series, which this year has a prize fund of €70,000. The Series will run at seven venues throughout Ireland, with the first leg kicking off at Louth County Show in April.
Significant changes have been made to the 2012 Series, notably there will now be separate classes for the 6 and 7 year olds. In addition, for the first four legs of the Series, the 6 year olds will not be asked to jump against the clock.
Irish Sport Horses enjoyed huge success in Nations Cup and Grand Prix classes over the weekend. In Wellington, Lisona (ISH) & Darragh Kerins and Slieveanorra (ISH) & Richie Moloney were part of the Irish team that finished second in Friday night's Nations Cup. On the Sunshine Tour. Omega Star (ISH) and Jaime Guerra (MEX) took top spot in the Grand Prix, one of six Grand Prix results for Irish Sport Horses last weekend.
