HORSE Sport Ireland, the Governing Body for equestrian sport and breeding in Ireland, are holding four days of inspections this week in a bid to identify Ireland’s most promising stallions, with a view to improving the quality of horses being bred in Ireland.

THIS year Horse Sport Ireland’s stallion inspections will take place in Cavan Equestrian Centre from 9th to 12th March. This is the second year of the new assessment system.

Horse Sport Ireland has announced details of the 2011 mare inspections for the Irish Sport Horse and Irish Draught Horse Studbooks. Mare Inspections for the two Studbooks will be held throughout Ireland in April and May 2011. This will be the second year of HSI’s new mare inspection programme.

TEAGASC have organised two evening seminars entitled ‘Meeting Market Demands’ to take place at Charleville Park Hotel on Tuesday the 1st of March and Tullamore Court Hotel on Wednesday the 2nd of March at 8pm.

A TRAINING day for Young Breeders will be held on the 5th February from 1.30pm to 4.30pm at Hilton View Stud, Scotshouse, Co. Monaghan. Clem McMahon is the trainer for the event which will focus on conformation assessment and the evaluation of loose movement and loose jumping.

Stallion Inspections for the Irish Sport Horse Studbook and the Irish Draught Horse Studbook will be held at Cavan Equestrian Centre on Thursday 10th March and Friday 11th March 2011.

HORSE Sport Ireland and Teagasc are happy to announce upcoming training days for Young Breeders throughout February, March and April.

ON Monday December 13th Horse Sport Ireland held a Breeders Awards night at the Bloomfield House Hotel in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, to recognise the accomplishments of breeders of Irish Sport Horses and Irish Draught Horses.

Teagasc, in conjunction with HSI, are holding a 'Finding the Stars of the Future' Demonstration Day from 1.00pm to 4.00pm on Saturday, November 27th, at Kildalton Agricultural College, Piltown, Co. Kilkenny

HORSE Sport Ireland Chairman Joe Walsh has hailed the specialist sale of event horses run by Goresbridge at the Monart Destination Spa in Wexford last night (Thursday) as a big success.
