TWOMEY CLAIMS SECOND WIN OF WEEKEND AT BARCELONA

BILLY Twomey chalked up his second win at Barcelona's five-star show today (Friday), in the fourth competition of the weekend. Piloting Michael Connaughton's grey Irish-bred mare 'Cavinem', the Cork rider beat Belgium's Grégory Wathelet to the trophy by just over a second.

ROBERT SPLAINE FILLS REMAINING SQUAD PLACE FOR WEG

DERMOTT Lennon, Denis Lynch, Cian O'Connor and Billy Twomey have already been confirmed as the Irish show jumping team for the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky next month. Shane Sweetnam with ‘Amaretto d’Arco’ who are US based, will now join the above named four at the games as reserve.

TIPPERARY'S Denis Lynch scored his second win of the weekend at Paderborn in Germany today (Sunday) taking the 5,000 euro first prize in the Two Phase competition.

MEATH-based Cian O'Connor was the only Irish rider to make it into the top ten at Gijon's five-star Grand Prix this evening, taking a sixth place on Michael Smurfit's mare 'K Club Lady'.

US-based Offaly rider Darragh Kenny claimed third place in the 250,000 dollar World Cup Qualifier Grand Prix at the Hampton Classic Horse Show in Long Island, New York tonight (Sunday).

WITH 11 teams vying for the title, Spain's Nations' Cup produced many similar team scores at the end of play in Gijon today (Friday), Ireland taking equal fifth with Saudi Arabia, and three nations tying for second place.
