KURTEN FIRST, LYNCH SECOND IN SPANISH JUMP-OFF

A LATE rally by two of the Irish contingent at Valencia's five-star Global Champions Tour show in Spain this evening (Sunday) saw Jessica Kurten claim the winner's laurels in the final competition of the weekend, while fellow countryman Denis Lynch finished close behind in runner-up position.

CIAN O'Connor took fourth place in tonight's (Friday) opening jump-off class at the Global Champions Tour show in Valencia, Spain with his new mare 'K Club Lady'. The 30 year-old Irish rider was one of just six to jump a double clear from a starting field of 47.

ST. FINIAN'S College, Mullingar won the 2010 All Ireland Inter Schools Open Show Jumping Championship at the weekend, under Chef d'Equipe Lino Orlandi, while St. Mary's Secondary School, New Ross took the runner-up spot.

TALBOT TAKES FOURTH IN ITALIAN GRAND PRIX

KILDARE rider Niall Talbot took fourth place in the 30,000 euro Italian Grand Prix at San Giovanni's three-star show this evening (Sunday). Riding the 16 year-old chestnut stallion 'Tequi d'I', Swiss-based Talbot, 39, had a single time fault in the first round but made the cut for the second round in a tough international field of 53 starters.

BREEN TRIUMPHS IN BELGIAN GRAND PRIX

TIPPERARY'S Shane Breen added the Grand Prix title to Ireland's triumphant weekend at the four-star show in Lummen in Belgium when he romped home this afternoon (Sunday) with a classy double clear round on Carmel Ryan's grey stallion 'Carmena Z'.

O'BRIEN RUNNER-UP IN FRENCH GRAND PRIX AT MAUBEUGE

ARMY rider Capt. David O'Brien added to Ireland's weekend tally of Grand Prix top fives with a runner-up spot in Maubeuge, France this afternoon (Sunday) on his long-term partner, the Minister for Defence's grey Cruising mare 'Mo Chroi'.

IRELAND SNATCH BELGIAN NATIONS' CUP AFTER JUMP-OFF

WITH three double clear rounds on the board, Ireland faced a zero-score jump-off at Lummen this afternoon for the Belgian Nations' Cup. And in a one-to-one battle Cork's Billy Twomey and 'Tinka's Serenade' produced a fault-free round against Australia's four-faulting Chris Chugg and 'Vivant' to snatch the trophy.

CIAN O'Connor and his new ride, the bay mare 'K Club Lady', took an eighth place in this afternoon's (Sunday) Grand Prix at the three-star show at Hagen in Germany.
