LENNON LEADS IRISH TALLY OF EUROPEAN TOP FIVE PLACES

DERMOTT Lennon led Thursday's Irish tally of European top five places with a win in tonight's feature speed class at the five-star World Cup show in Geneva, Switzerland aboard Judith Sossick's Irish-bred Limmerick mare Loughview Lou Lou.

IRELAND'S Billy Twomey tonight (Friday) won the coveted Rolex Top Ten Final trophy in a two-round competition at the five-star show in Paris, France, collecting 50,000 euro in prize money and a Rolex watch worth 8,000 euro.

LYNCH FINISHES SIXTH IN 2011 GLOBAL CHAMPIONS TOUR SERIES

DESPITE failing to make the cut for the jump-off in the final round of the Global Champions Tour series in Abu Dhabi last night (Saturday) Tipperary's Denis Lynch nevertheless finished in sixth place of the overall rankings and collected a 33,750 euro cheque as part of the million euro pay-out for the top 18 of the 124 riders who took part.

IRELAND'S Denis Lynch was one of just six through to the jump-off from a starting field of 39 in the World Cup Grand Prix at Stuttgart, Germany this evening (Sunday), but a single pole dislodged left him in sixth overall, with prize money of 8,000 euro.

IRISH riders were to the fore on the first day (Friday) of the World Cup show at Stuttgart in Germany, with Cork's Billy Twomey collecting the 16,000 euro runner-up prize in the German Masters, and Tipperary-born Shane Breen winning the earlier speed class.

CONOR Swail and Dermott Lennon, both from Co. Down, took second and third places in last night's (Wednesday) World Cup competition at the prestigious Royal Fair show in Toronto, Canada, picking up 36,000 dollars in prize money between them.

OLYMPIC STALLION HICKSTEAD DIES AT WORLD CUP VERONA

THE celebrated Olympic Gold Medal stallion Hickstead sadly died after completing his World Cup round with Canadian rider Eric Lamaze at Verona in Italy today (Sunday), and the competition was called off as a result.
