IRISH-BRED HORSES TO THE FORE IN FIRST TWO DAYS AT BIRMINGHAM

IRISH-bred horses have produced some of the top results during the first two days of the British Open Show Jumping Championships at Birmingham, with two wins and three top ten places. Tonight 36 year-old Mark Kyle took victory in the Indoor Cross Country competition with 'Drunken Disorderly', while Shane Breen placed sixth on 'Mullaghdrin Gold Rain' in the championship class.

CAS ANNULS FEI DECISION TO RELEGATE GREAT BRITAIN FROM THE 2010 FEI NATIONS CUP
THE Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has rendered its final decision in the arbitration concerning the British Equestrian Federation (BEF) and the FEI. CAS has allowed the appeal of the BEF and has annulled the decision of the FEI Tribunal of 21 January 2010. This means that the British team will be allowed to take part in the 2010 Meydan FEI Nations Cup™.

O'CONNOR SNATCHES HSI CHIPPISON GRAND PRIX IN KILKENNY

MEATH-based Cian O'Connor was the man in the Easter Monday limelight at Warrington Equestrian Centre in Co. Kilkenny this afternoon, with two horses in the top six of the HSI Chippison Grand Prix. And it was Stephen O'Connor and Castlemartin Stud's 13 year-old gelding 'Complete' who took away the winner's rosette.

LYNCH SECOND, KURTEN THIRD IN PARIS JUMP OFF

DENIS Lynch got into the prize money at the five-star show in Paris with a second place in the jump-off today (Sunday), while fellow Irish rider Jessica Kurten was just half a second behind, but the 9,000 euro first prize went to Sweden.

BUTLER WINS HSI CHIPPISON GRAND PRIX AT BARNADOWN
TWENTY two year-old Alexander Butler had a narrow victory in this afternoon's (Sunday) HSI Chippison Spring Tour Grand Prix at the Barnadown Equestrian Centre in Gorey, Co. Wexford, with Raymond Donohoe's Irish-bred 'Carton Free', one of five Irish-breds to feature in the top six.

RUNNER-UP PLACE FOR KURTEN AT FIVE-STAR PARIS SHOW

JESSICA Kurten opened the scoring for Ireland at the five-star show in Paris this afternoon (Saturday) with a runner-up place in the hotly-contested speed class. The Antrim-born rider piloted Lady Georgina Forbes's 10 year-old chestnut mare 'Castle Forbes Cosma' to a scorching finish, but was beaten to the 15,000 euro first prize by Ontario-based Olympic gold medallist Eric Lamaze.

KURTEN SECOND IN NETHERLANDS WORLD CUP COMPETITION

A TENTH of a second denied Ireland's Jessica Kurten the ultimate prize of the weekend at Holland's five-star World Cup show when she finished second to Sweden's Rolf-Goran Bengtsson in the Rolex FEI World Cup competition this afternoon (Sunday). After a string of dazzling results at 's-Hertogenbosch, the Antrim-born rider was forced to concede victory in the ten-horse jump-off today.
