Qualifiers for Jumping In The City to run in Cork and Limerick

As previously announced the Underwriting Exchange Jumping in the City will run in Shelbourne Park this year on Friday August 5th.

Subsequently, HSI were approached by the Munster region of Showjumping Ireland who wanted to run Jumping In The City qualifiers in both Limerick and Cork on Friday June 24th and Friday July 8th respectively. Horse Sport Ireland have accommodated this proposal by designating the events as qualifiers and welcome the initiative taken by the region.

HSI’s International Marketing Director and Jumping In The City Series Director Elaine Hatton said;

“The purpose of running Jumping in the City, with the support of then Minister Simon Coveney,  was to demonstrate that show jumping could attract a new audience, if it was run in a spectator friendly format. The Munster region, who put in a huge effort to make the series possible in 2015, are now planning to run Show Jumping in Greyhound stadia this summer in a similar format to last year but with some modifications.”

“There is also interest in running show jumping in some of the other greyhound stadiums in the country and this qualifier model could allow the series to be expanded in future years.”

Munster Region Showjumping Ireland Chairman, Tony Hurley said;

‘The Munster region are very proud of last year’s two Jumping In The Series events in Munster. The events will run in a similar format to last year. However,  a 12.2hh class will replace the Puissance in Limerick and Cork only. We are delighted that Horse Sport Ireland have agreed to support our initiative and we look forward to two successful nights leading to a spectacular conclusion in Shelbourne Park on August 5th where we also celebrate Ireland’s equestrian athletes participation in the Olympic Games” he said.
