The first leg of the Foal Championships kicked off in JAG equestrian on 14th August. Judging for the day were Jack Doyle and Nicola Ennis. The day began with the pony classes. The first foals into the ring were the Pony Eventing foals. The winner of this class was Sacha Maxwell’s Connemara colt Sruth Bhearcháin Rebus (CP), out of Gleann Mór Mary Ellen (CP), by Safin (CP), damsire Gwennic de Goariva (CP). The runner up was Sharon Walsh’s Pineview Absolute Onyx (ISP), a filly by Pineview Junior Boss (ISP), out of Droumleap Absolute Heartbreaker (WPC) by Astral Heartbreaker (BRP).

The next class was pony showjumping. The winning foal here was Gerry Whyte’s colt foal Sleehaun Champagne (CP), by Manninard Abel (CP), out of Penure Mini Melody (CP), by I Love You Melody (CP). Second place was taken by Stephen McDonald’s Irish Sport Pony colt Jasmine’s Jaguar (ISP), by Weststar Sunny (CP), out of Dancing Jasmine (ISP), by Moores Clover (ISH)[TIH].

The day carried on with the Horse Eventing class. This was championed by Thomas Conway’s filly foal Adorable (ISH), by Diarado (HOLST), out of Star Iris (ISH) by OBOS Quality (OLD). Reserve was taken by Niamh Varley’s VG Mr Elusive, colt foal by Elusive Emir (TB), out of Clann Misshermus (ISH), by Mermus R (KWPN).

The day was concluded with Horse Showjumping. John & Barbara Walshe’s foal Ballinaguilkey Conthargos (ISH) took the win here. This filly is by Conthargos (OLD), out of Ballinaguilkey Drama Queen (ISH), by Heritage Fortunus (HANN). Second place went to James Goland’s Ballinglen Fairytale (ISH)[TIH], by Stormy Mountain (ISH)[TIH], out of Avoca Juno (ISH)[TIH] by Puissance (ISH)[TIH].
