IRISH SPORT HORSE STUDBOOK SHOWJUMPING SERIES 2012 - VENUE APPLICATION FORM

Horse Sport Ireland are now accepting venue applications to host a leg of the Irish Sport Horse Studbook Showjumping Series 2012. Should you wish to apply to host either a qualifying leg or the Grand Finals of the 2012 Series, please contact Laura Skelton in HSI for an application form (email: lskelton@horsesportireland.ie). Completed application forms must be returned to HSI no later than 1pm on Monday 30th January 2012.

IRISH BASED STALLIONS DOMINATE BRITISH EVENTING YOUNG HORSE TABLES

IRISH based stallions are very prominent in the British Eventing young horse sires tables for the 2011 season. The tables, which were published just before Christmas, show that 11 the top 15 stallions of 7 and 8 year old event horses in the UK are the progeny of stallions standing or who stood in Ireland.

Irish Sport Horses enjoyed considerable success at London Olympia over the weekend. Ireland's Dermott Lennon on board the nine year old mare, Loughview Lou-Lou (ISH), took top spot in the 1m50 class on Thursday to claim the lions share of the €11,200 prize fund. Later that day Laura Renwick (GBR) and Roller Coaster (ISH) finished in seventh place in the Speed Stakes. The duo went on to finish in fifth place in Friday's Puissance, with John Whitaker (GBR) and Casino (ISH) finishing in seventh place in the same class.

Irish Sport Horses enjoyed success on the international showjumping circuit over the weekend. In Stockholm, Sweden, John Whitaker and the Cavalier Royale gelding, Casino (ISH), were victorious in Sunday's Grand Prix earning himself a VW car. In Buenos Aires, Argentina, Matias Albarracin with P Compadre Ballycullen Maid (ISH) were part of Argentinian team that took second place in the Nations Cup.

Irish Sport Horses enjoyed success on the international showjumping circuit over the weekend. At Rancho Murieta in America, Rich Fellers (USA) and the Cruising stallion Flexible (ISH) took top spot in the FEI World Cup Grand Prix. In Toronto, Canada, Dermott Lennon (IRL) and Lougview Lou-Lou (ISH) were victorious in the 1m50 class and were placed in a further two classes at the same show.

THE Goresbridge ‘Go for Gold' event horse sale took place in Gorey, Co. Wexford on Thursday night and was a huge success, with 36 of the lots on offer selling for an average price of €17,603.

November 15th 2011 is a day for all equine enthusiasts and breeders to mark in their diary. The Teagasc National Equine Conference is to be held on this date in Teagasc Moorepark, near Fermoy in Co. Cork. It is a full day event from 9.30am to 4pm. The opening session will be chaired by Dr. Noel Cawley, chairman of the Board of Teagasc. Speakers in this session include Alison Corbally Director of Breeding and Programmes Horse Sport Ireland, Declan McArdle Teagasc and Edward Doyle.

Irish Sport Horses enjoyed success on the international showjumping circuit over the weekend. At the 5 Star World Cup Show in Helsinki, Finland, Lotta Schultz (SWE) finished in eleventh place in the €100,000 Grand Prix. In Caen, France, Ireland's Alexander Butler finished in fourth place in the Grand Prix Qualifier with Will Wimble (ISH), while fellow Irishman, Dermott Lennon, finished in sixth with Loughview Lou-Lou (ISH).

IRISH STUDBOOK FINISHES CLOSE SECOND AT LE LION D'ANGERS

IRISH-bred horses excelled in the World Breeding Championship for young event horses at Le Lion d'Angers today (Sunday), with the Irish Sport Horse Studbook finishing a very close second to the Royal Warmblood Studbook of the Netherlands. A total of 11 studbooks were represented.

Irish Sport Horses enjoyed success on the international showjumping circuit over the weekend. At the 5 star show in Oslo, the Billy bred horses were on form. Billy Buttercup (ISH) and Victoria Gulliksen (NOR) were victorious in the €14,000 1m40 class and placed in two further classes. Britain's William Funnell and Billy Grand (ISH) took second place in the €30,000 Winning Round class, while Billy Owen (ISH) and Victoria Gulliksen (NOR) finished in fourth place in the Puissance.

TIPPERARY STALLION CROWNED 7YO CHAMPION AT HOYS

Tipperary's Trevor Breen, from Cashel, and the Cruising stallion, Oldtown KC (ISH), took the 7 Year Old National Championship title at the Horse of the Year Show in Birmingham last week. Bred by Martin Coffey, from Templemore, Co. Tipperary, and owned by Martin & Paschal Coffey, the chestnut stallion was the fastest of three double clears in the Championship jump-off.

Irish Sport Horses enjoyed success on the international showjumping circuit over the weekend. At the Horse of the Year Show in Birmingham, Britain's William Funnell and Billy Grand (ISH) were victorious in the Five Fence Challenge class and were placed in a second class. At the same show, Shane Breen (IRL) and Cos I Can (ISH) were placed in two classes. At Tetouan, Morocco, Laura Renwick (GBR) and Roller Coaster (ISH) were in the prize money after placing in two 1m45 classes.
