IRELAND'S pony riders once again dominated the action at Chevenez in Switzerland today (Sunday) with a near-whitewash in the Pony Grand Prix and two more awards in the European Challenge Cup series.
Fifteen year-old Wexford rider Bertram Allen, who was a member of Ireland's winning Nations' Cup team at Chevenez on Friday, today scooped the Grand Prix first prize on the same pony, 'Acapella Z', with fellow team members Emma O'Dwyer and Jeremy Sweetnam taking third and fifth places respectively, Paraic Kenny claiming seventh with 'Cappagh Romeo' and the fourth Nations' Cup rider, Tom Foley, taking tenth.
Fourteen year-old Foley, from Co. Clare, also won the Individual Big Tour European Challenge Cup, while Ireland's Kate McDonagh won the Small Tour European Cup. These awards completed a clean sweep in the new category, with Ireland also winning the Team Cup on Friday.
