IRELAND'S Shane Breen added two more clear rounds to his tally at the five-star French show in La Baule, when finishing as runner-up in today's (Sunday) jump-off class, with the 12 year-old Irish-bred chestnut gelding 'Dorada'.
Just under a second off the pace of French star Penelope Leprevost, Tipperary-born Breen collected 4,000 euro for his second place amongst the 13 horses that made the jump-off from a 50-strong startlist.
Breen has had a notable outing at La Baule, with a double clear in Friday's Nations' Cup, a fourth place in the Derby, and two further top five finishes.
However, two fences down with the Irish-bred 'Mullaghdrin Gold Rain' in this afternoon's Grand Prix put him out of the running for the show's richest individual prize, and neither Cameron Hanley nor Darragh Kenny qualified for the final round, with four and eight faults respectively.
The USA's McLain Ward eventually took the Grand Prix trophy with 'Sapphire'.
In the Derby, one fence down stopped the 35 year-old Breen from being in contention for the 16,500 euro top prize, but Keith Prescott's Irish-bred 'Mullaghdrin Gold Rain' produced an impressive enough turn of speed to nett Breen a respectable 5,000 euro for his performance.
Close behind in fifth came US-based Irish rider Shane Sweetnam with 'Little Emir', with four jumping faults and three time faults on the board.
The competition was won by the USA's Richard Spooner and 'Pako'.
