TIPPERARY'S Shane Breen took fifth place this afternoon (Sunday) in the three-star Grand Prix at Dortmund in Germany, aboard Ronan Tynan's bay Irish-bred stallion 'Warrenstown You 2'.
The 36 year-old Irish rider, who is now based in Sussex, was one of 16 through to the jump-off from a starting list of 45, and rode a careful second round that saw him finish on a zero score but just over six seconds off the pace of Netherlands winner Gert-Jan Bruggink and the ten year-old mare 'Andrea'.
Bruggink collected 14,000 euro for his win, while the Irishman took home 3,500 euro.
Breen campaigned three Irish-bred horses at Dortmund, and had success on all of them, winning the Young Horse Qualifier with 'Cos I Can', and coming second in the speed class with 'Camblin', both on Friday. The eight year-old 'Cos I Can' also gave him a third place earlier today in the Young Horse Final.
