SHANE Carey was best of the Irish in tonight's jump-off at Salzburg in Austria when finishing fifth with Steen Bundgaard's nine year-old bay gelding 'Lancero'.
Limerick-born Carey, who is now based in Denmark, was one of 18 riders through to the jump-off at the four-star show, and though going clear second time out stopped the clock just under three seconds slower than Netherlands winner Willem Greve and the Hanoverian stallion 'Ukato'.
Carey is joined by Cameron Hanley and Dermott Lennon at Salzburg, where the Grand Prix takes place on Sunday afternoon.
