(09 May 2010)

THIRTY-two year-old Shane Carey took the Danish Grand Prix trophy for Ireland this afternoon (Sunday) when he brought the nine year-old bay gelding 'Lancero' across the line at Fredensborg a fifth of a second clear of Danish challenger Linnea Ericsson.

Limerick-born Carey, who is now based in Denmark, was one of 15 combinations through to the second round at the two-star show, and recorded one of just eight double clear rounds from the starting field of 60 to collect his 3,500 euro first prize.
