TWENTY year-old Alex Duffy triumphed in this afternoon's (Sunday) Grand Prix at the French show in Villeneuve-Loubet when he took the 6250 euro first prize on the Edenrock Investments-owned stallion 'Tampa'.
The Mayo-born rider, who jumped for Ireland's Nations' Cup team in Norway last year, went clear in both rounds, with Swiss runner-up Philipp Zuger well over a second behind on time with 'Liatos II".
Third place went to another Irish competitor, Alexander Butler, who recorded a double clear on the Irish-bred gelding 'Will Wimble', while Tipperary's Shane Breen sealed Ireland's dominance of the French Grand Prix with a seventh place on another Irish-bred gelding, the 12 year-old 'Dorada', collecting four faults in the final round.
