FAILTE IRELAND DUBLIN HORSE SHOW DOMINATES WEEKEND ACTION

(05 Aug 2010)

IRELAND'S showcase jumping and breeding event at the Failte Ireland Dublin Horse Show will dominate this weekend's equestrian action, with nine international teams vying for the coveted Aga Khan Trophy and some of the world's top riders and horses doing battle for the other major prizes over the next four days.

Ireland also fields its strongest team and individual combinations, with the highlight being Friday's final leg of the 2010 Meydan Nations' Cup Superleague, where Robert Splaine's squad of Shane Breen, Cian O'Connor, Billy Twomey, Denis Lynch and Dermott Lennon will attempt to record the first Irish victory since 2004, and cement the country's position in the 2011 series of the world's top team jumping league.

Many Irish individuals have also been selected to compete at the Dublin event, with Trevor Breen, Alexander Butler, Joan Green, Cameron Hanley, Tholm Keane, Capt. David O’Brien, Dave Quigley, Shane Sweetnam, Niall Talbot, Edward Little and Paddy O’Donnell among the featured names for international classes.

Other highlights of the show will be the Land Rover Puissance on Saturday and the Longines International Grand Prix on Sunday.
