IRISH RIDERS CAMPAIGN IN TWO WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS THIS WEEKEND

(10 Feb 2010)

SPAIN will see Tipperary's Denis Lynch try to gain World Cup points this weekend, when he lines out at Vigo's five-star show from Friday.

The 33 year-old Irish rider competes at the Cotogrande Fair Grounds in the historic city venue on the north Atlantic coast with Flaminia Straumann's gelding 'Nabab's Son' and her father Thomas's 'All Inclusive NRW'.

Vigo's Rolex FEI World Cup Qualifier, the 11th in the current series, takes place on Saturday.

Over in Wellington, Florida, Darragh Kenny and Shane Sweetnam also contest a Rolex World Cup Qualifier on Saturday. Offaly-born Kenny will be hoping to repeat his success with the bay gelding 'Obelix', who recently took him to victory in two previous Qualifiers in the US East Coast League, where he currently holds second place.

In Zuidlaren in the Netherlands, meanwhile, Jessica Kurten and Cameron Hanley fly the flag for Ireland, both hoping to feature strongly in the three-star Grand Prix on Sunday. Kurten brings two horses to the venue, while Hanley will campaign three, including 'SIEC Hippica Kerman', who has been sidelined due to injury for some time.
