ANTRIM-born Jessica Kurten was one of four through to the jump-off at the rich Global Champions Tour Grand Prix at Turin, Italy this afternoon (Saturday), but a single pole down cost her the winner's prize of 100,000 euro.
Kurten, who is currently ranked ninth if the world, brought out her top mare, Lady Georgina Forbes's 'Castle Forbes Libertina', for the Grand Prix and went clear over two rounds to qualify for the jump-off alongside Brazil's Rodrigo Pessoa, Britain's Nick Skelton, and Germany's Marco Kutscher.
With the three riders before her leaving all the poles standing and Kutscher recording the fastest time on 'Cash 63', the Irish rider had no option but to go for speed, but 'Libertina' lowered the first part of the double and those four faults on the board meant that Kurten could not improve on her fourth place, so retired without completing the full jump-off course.
However, fourth place brought her the consolation of a 25,000 euro prize.
