German-based Kurten was just under two seconds off the pace of Dutch winner Eric van der Vleuten and 'VDL Groep Tomboy' but beat off a challenge from Egypt's Abdel Said, whose faster time cost him a fence on the floor and relegated him to third place.

The Irish rider collected 13,000 euro for her runner-up spot. 'Castle Forbes Cosma' also won Thursday's 1m50 competition at Humlikon.

On Friday, 39 year-old Antrim native Kurten took second place in the big jump-off class with 'Castle Forbes Myrtille Paulois', who also gave her a sixth place finish in Thursday's speed class.
