LYNCH CLAIMS THIRD PLACE IN CHANTILLY GRAND PRIX

(24 Jul 2011)

IRELAND'S Denis Lynch picked up just over 6,000 euro for his third place in this evening's (Sunday) Grand Prix at the five-star show in Chantilly, France, riding Flaminia Straumann's Calvaro gelding 'Night Train'.
One of 12 to go through to the jump-off from a starting field of 36, the Tipperary rider recorded one of just six double clear rounds, but failed to bag the 13,000 euro first prize, which went instead to Brazil's Alvaro de Miranda and 'AD Wilbert Z', who had shaded Lynch by almost one and a half seconds when the clock stopped.
Second place and 10,000 euro went to France's Patrice Delaveau and the Selle Français mare 'Ornella Mail'.
On Friday Lynch took another second place with 'Night Train' in the Two Phase competition, with Cian O'Connor claiming fifth on his new mount 'Dacaletto d'Hoetsel '
Earlier today Louth's Mark McAuley was the winner of the speed class at Chantilly, piloting the French-bred gelding 'Kerball'.
