IRELAND'S Denis Lynch claimed a 23,000 euro victory in this afternoon's (Monday) German Grand Prix at Wiesbaden, narrowly beating Germany's World No. 2 Marcus Ehning to the prize.
Thirty-four year-old Tipperary native Lynch had flown 600 km on Saturday night from the Global Champions Tour Show at Turin in Italy to make sure he could be eligible for the German competition, and did so with a first place in the Wiesbaden Grand Prix Qualifier on Sunday.
Riding Flaminia Straumann's ten year-old gelding 'Abbervail van het Dingeshof', Lynch repeated his sparkling form this afternoon and notched up his first Grand Prix victory of 2010 with a lead of less than a tenth of a second over challenger Ehning and 'Noltes Kuchengirl'.
Lynch is currently ranked 13th in the world, but points gained today should now lift him into the top ten on the leaderboard when next month's Rolex rankings are published.
