IN a tough competition that saw only one double clear round from a starting field of 46 competitors, Kilkenny's Eddie Moloney snatched fifth place in the Grand Prix at Leszno in Poland this evening (Sunday) riding his eight year-old Meath-bred chestnut gelding 'Slieveanorra'.
With only six combinations going through to the jump-off, Leszno's difficult Grand Prix track yielded just one clear round, from Swedish winner Jannike West and 'Vivaldi K', while Moloney, though posting the second-fastest time, dropped to fifth overall when recording eight faults.
Thirty four year-old Moloney had earlier taken the runner-up spot in the Grand Prix Qualifier with another Irish-bred horse, 'Chatsworth Dan', and with the same horse finished ninth in Saturday's Rolex World Cup class at the three-star venue.
