KILKENNY'S Eddie Moloney last night (Saturday) won 2,400 euro in the Masters' Class at the three-star show in Vidauban, France when finishing third on Tom McGurk's Irish-bred Aldatus Z mare 'Macushla R'.
After five rounds with the fence heights reaching 1m65, France's Philippe Rozier with the Dutch-bred gelding 'Trappist' finally clinched the competition by being the only rider to clear all seven fences in the final round, collecting the winner's purse of 5,400 euro.
In International Masters each rider, once clear in a round, raises a fence of their own choice for the others to jump, but Moloney faulted on his fourth attempt.
The 34 year-old, who last week won the Vidauban Grand Prix with his own nine year-old Irish-bred gelding 'Slieveanorra', failed to repeat the magic today (Sunday) on the same horse, collecting four faults on his first time out in the Grand Prix class.
