KILDARE rider Niall Talbot took fourth place in the 30,000 euro Italian Grand Prix at San Giovanni's three-star show this evening (Sunday).
Riding the 16 year-old chestnut stallion 'Tequi d'I', Swiss-based Talbot, 39, had a single time fault in the first round but made the cut for the second round in a tough international field of 53 starters and went clear to take fourth place behind Italian winner Gianni Govoni and 'Joyau d'Opal'.
Yesterday Talbot was one of 12 through to the jump-off in the 1m45 class with 'Nicos de la Cense', finishing fifth on a double clear round behind British winner Daniel Neilson, who also took victory in Friday's 1m40 class.
