MEATH'S Cian O'Connor continued his run of good form at the five-star show in Rome this afternoon (Saturday) with a fifth place in the day's big jump-off class and a second place in the Puissance.
Riding Ahmed Tolba's Dutch-bred gelding 'Splendor', the 31 year-old was one of six competitors to record a double clear round from a starting field of 46, but was just over two seconds slower in the jump-off than Canada's Eric Lamaze and 'Coriana van Klapscheut', who took the winner's prize of 6,000 euro.
Later in the evening O'Connor achieved a height of 2m20 in the Puissance with his new nine year-old stallion 'On Ira', finishing second to Italy's Emanuele Gaudiano and 'Italic de Salines'.
O'Connor was also fifth in Thursday's jump-off class at Rome with 'Splendor', and scored a fourth place the same day in the Two Phase competition on the nine year-old gelding 'Temple Road'.
Rome's 200,000 euro Grand Prix takes place on Sunday afternoon.
