THIRTY-one year-old Cian O'Connor continued to pick up prize money this afternoon (Friday) in the United Arab Emirates when he finished third in Abu Dhabi's Grand Prix Qualifier with the Irish-bred 'Larkhill Cruiser'.
O'Connor and the Co. Antrim-bred gelding 'Larkhill Cruiser' went clear against the clock but fell short by under two seconds in their attempt to catch the eventual winner, UAE rider Ahmed Ali Al Junaibi with 'Piccopelo Wodina'.
O'Connor will now be well-placed in the starting order for Saturday's World Cup Qualifier Grand Prix at the four-star venue.
The Meath-based rider today was awarded the 'Sports Star Of The Week' award by the Irish Independent newspaper for his performances at Dubai last week, where he won the Leading Rider prize.
